THREE BEAUTIFUL WINES FOR WINTER

When looking for a nice wine for the festive table, Christmas guests, end-of-year gatherings, or New Year's Eve, it is not difficult to choose from the selection offered by St. Andrea Vineyard. Here are some subjective wine recommendations from Oszvald Berényi, sommelier at St. Andrea Wine&Skybar, for the holidays and beyond.

Mária 2021

When we think of Christmas and fine wines, St. Andrea's Mária immediately comes to mind. It is not only the name and the message, but also the elegance and direct, loving character of the wine that moves us: in my opinion, Mária is a real wild card, one of the winery's most lovable, elegant and beautiful wines.

The 2021 vintage was difficult but excellent, and after a slight detour, Mária returned to the classic house style, with Furmint and Chardonnay appearing in almost equal proportions. The wine reached its peak in two years, as indicated by the prestigious Japan Wine Award it received this year.

Mária 2021 is a complex, easy-drinking but distinctive white wine with character, which goes well with festive fish dishes, but is also a full-bodied, complex wine, so don't be afraid to serve it with spicy dishes: you'll be in for a special taste experience.

Boldogságos 2022

A lighter, complex wine that will appeal to those who love peachy, southern fruit flavors and aromas. It has crisp, crisp acids and beautifully expresses the saltiness and minerality expected of the Eger wine region.

If you haven't tried St. Andrea wines yet, this is a great place to start: a fruity, fragrant, floral wine. A beautiful Egri Csillag that you can't go wrong with, whether you choose it to accompany festive meals or as a gift.

Hangács 2021

Hangács is one of the best choices in terms of value for money from the St. Andrea repertoire.

Although it has not yet reached its peak, it is explosively fruity and silky smooth. It has typical Eger characteristics, with deep fruity tones, black berry flavors, strawberry, sour cherry, and cherry notes, and soft, elegant tannins.

It is also a big favorite of mine because the Hangács vineyard is a very Eger-like growing area, so the wine has everything it takes to offer a unique experience. In my opinion, it is one of the best wines you can choose from the Eger wine region.

+1 Agapé 2018

The extra wine needs no explanation: Agapé is officially the best wine in the country this year, according to international opinion.

It is an extremely balanced wine, with the black berry, deep fruity, even rum-cherry and cognac-cherry flavors characteristic of the Nagy-Eged mountain. Its name also suggests elevation and beauty: the wine of divine love. According to recommendations, it will be at its peak around 2027, but it can be tasted now.
